The legend about Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) is endless. The ghost of the man who originally was the killer of these children continues to haunt. Almost nothing could escape the cruelty of Freddy because he was able to kill anyone only through dreams.
During his life, Freddy Krueger was a killer who had killed dozens of children. The fate of this man who likes to wear a hat must end up in the hands of a mass that burns him alive. At first people thought that Freddy's cruelty was over. But when some teens begin to be haunted by nightmares about men in hats with claws made of knives, they realize that Freddy's threat is not over.
This series of brutal events begins when Nancy Thompson (Rooney Mara) starts having nightmares being chased by a man in a hat. Intrigued by this nightmare, Nancy began to find out the past city where she lived. From there Nancy began to realize that the person in her dream was Freddy Krueger, who had died several years ago. Unfortunately, Freddy now has the ability to kill through dreams, which means Nancy and her friends can no longer sleep until they find a way to defeat Freddy.
Besides FRIDAY THE 13TH, another urban legend that is just as popular is A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. Because of the popularity of this legend until it was filmed 9 times and is still considered prospective enough to bring money. This time it is not a continuation of FREDDY VS. JASON made but a remake of the first part that appeared in 1984. Why remake? The only reason that is quite reasonable is that there are no more new ideas and with the development of film technology today the possibility of creating an 'improved version' of the first part is wide open.
Relevant? Not really. Besides the possibility of making this film better than the visual side, there is no reason to revive the legend of Freddy Krueger. From the side of the story, we are all clearly familiar, especially since this remake did not try to make a new interpretation other than adding pedophile status to Freddy who at first only liked to kill children.
In terms of acting, there's not much to expect from films like this. But if you want to hope, this film could also lead one of its supporters to the ranks of top actors / actresses as happened in the 1984 version. If the first version then deliver the name Johnny Depp.
